Forecast NYC is the definitive portal for the Tri-State's weather and climate — built to make the official National Weather Service forecast fast, clean, and highway-clear for the five boroughs and the 22 counties around them, across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Twenty million people on a harbor that funnels surge, an island that runs 120 miles out into the Atlantic, and a rain-snow line that decides somewhere over the city whether a nor'easter is two inches or two feet. Sandy is the storm everyone measures against, but the heat island, the flash flooding that drowns basement apartments, and the summer squall lines are the ordinary risks. Forecast NYC is being built to tell that story — borough by borough, county by county.
The look borrows from the American Interstate system — the reflective paper, the green guide signs, the blue service signs, the brown recreation signs, and the red-white-and-blue route shields — set in Overpass. As a metro site its hero is the county grid rather than a state outline, in a taxi yellow accent on cool concrete — its own note in the network.
Forecast NYC is a metro zoom-in on the Tri-State. New York doesn't yet have its own Forecast <State> site — statewide forecasts live on weather.city — but NYC is part of the wider Forecast network.
